So you're saying anything can hurt anything in 8th....?

With Warhammer 40k 8th Edition: Rise of The Grot Blasta right around the corner, I figured it was time for an overall Gretchin headcount.

I currently own 125 painted Gretchin and 16 unpainted Gretchin of various kits and sources. This is not counting grots modeled on vehicles, Grot tanks, glued to looted carnifexes, Killa Kanz etc. All told I can field about a 1250 point ork list with 10-15 actual orks total.

Of my Gretchin kits, I've got:

-base kit (mostly converted. My Gretchin have stolen weaponry from every faction in 40k, which occasionally leads to interesting conversions like my Gretchin Ascendant)

-Squigs and Squig minders (fantasy)

- plastic mek gun krew

-forgeworld grot gun krew

-Pirate Gretchin from the Flash git box set

-Thieving Grots set

-Original pre gorka morka plastic Grots

-Gnoblars (fantasy, converted for more poses)

-Snotlings (rogue Trader)

Dude! Those Gretchin merged with Tyranid biomorphs- Mad Dok WyrmLuvva grabbing passing Grots for experiments?

Love the collection- there's a rumor that we'll get a Faction Focus on Orks soon...

No it's just that canonically, Orks believe Tyranids to be a strange breed of squig. Given that the orks first discovered squigs of some varieties aboard tyranid bioships they might not be wrong, just wrong in the other direction - Squigs are alluded to be tyranid creations from ork dna.

Therefore, Orks believe that Gretchins have their usual affinity with tyranids as they do with squigs. Therefore they do have that affinity, and can occasionally use stolen tyranid weaponry/trained tyranid beasties.
