That's impressive on how much you've painted. As someone who's struggling to motivate myself to finish up the last 30 models of my collection I'm curious if you've ever encountered burnout and if there's a good way of overcoming it?

Re: Anthony's Hobby Plog
If there's any one thing that I've learned about myself from keeping up this hobby blog, it's that I do best when I follow my enthusiasm and paint something that I'm excited to paint or something that I'm eager to see on the table. If I force myself to sit and paint something that I'm not excited about, the project will drag on. And because I've been keeping notes, I can actually chart my progress month-to-month.
That slump in March, April, and May? Two back-to-back commissions and the new plastic Guilliman. While the commissions were fun, there was a lot I had to figure out during each process. So they slowed me down. And I sat and agonized over Guilliman for something like 7 weeks. I hated that. The model felt like it was overly ornate. Too much detail for the sake of having detail as opposed to detail that added to his overall look, if that makes sense. The last couple months I've been focussing hard on only putting paint on those models I'm excited about.
Primaris Marines and Stonecast make up the bulk of those projects. I've been super jazzed about both those models and it shows. With the Stonecast, I've got an inherent advantage when it comes to speed-painting them. First, I was particularly excited to try the scheme. 95% of the Stormcast I've seen are some type of metallic. Silver, Gold, Bronze, or whatever. I saw this scheme while trawling around on Reddit and I knew I had to try it.
It's also fairly straight forward. Basecoat of a mid-tone grey, two layers of wash, three layers of drybrush, and then glowy-effects. The basing is pretty much the same. Base layer, wash, drybrush. It means I can churn them out quickly and they look great, which is sort of its own reward. I built up a kind of feedback loop where I would finish a group of Stonecast, really like how they looked together, and then get really excited about adding the next group.
The other thing that I find helps me to power through is to paint in batches. Grab a handful of similar models and paint them all in a series. Take Tactical Marines for example. First everyone gets blue power armor. Then everyone's joints gets metallics. Then everyone gets gold lining, then everyone's boltgun gets details, etc...
The number of models you grab at a time is up to you. I've found that 5 to 10 models is about the sweet spot for me. Any more than that and I start to get bored, which slows me down as my enthusiasm fades.
