Sunday 9/8 (Three weeks from Now) Grimdark Apocalypse Team Mega-Battle!

Postby MrScotty » Mon Aug 19, 2019 9:37 am

The veil of the warp grows thin, and hideous legions of chaotic monstrosities encroach upon realspace. Now is the time for all to fight together or to face total annihilation!

The sunday after Labor Day weekend, the club officers would like to set up a large scale apocalypse team game pitting the forces of chaos against the combined might of everyone! To resolve the old problem of "Too many people want to play the good guys", Spencer, Anthony, Dave and I will bring however many points of Chaos armies needed to equalize the points value against everybody else.

We will be using the new Apocalypse rules. The datasheets for all armies, GW and FW, are to be found for free here: https://warhammer40000.com/apocalypse/datasheets/

If you have not read the core rules, don't worry - we have a shared club copy and you can PM me if you would like to see them in advance as well. The new apoc rules are very easy to pick up.

Comment on the thread if you are coming, and which Faction+Subfaction you'd like to bring. If the faction you'd like to bring has the CHAOS keyword, you may choose to side with the forces of evil to make it nice and thematic.

Army Rules:

-All units must be painted with three colors minimum
-Each player can take up to 100 Power Level worth of units (Using the new Apocalypse datasheets)
-Each player must take 1 of the following detachments: Patrol, Supreme Command, Battalion, Vanguard, Spearhead, Outrider, Super-Heavy Detachment
-Each player may optionally take 1 of the following detachments: Super-heavy Auxiliary, Fortification Network, Flyer Wing
-If a player brings all units that share a <Subfaction> keyword, their Warlord will gain a randomly determined Warmaster trait.

(Each of those detachments is the same as they are in base 40k, the only distinction is that Flyer Wing only requires 1 Flyer minimum rather than 3, and all detachments except Patrol have had their HQ slots made optional rather than required)
Game Preferences:
A model may assault upper levels of terrain if they charge far enough to climb them
All current beta rules in effect unless opponent prefers otherwise
I love setting up custom, fluffy scenarios, PM me!

You need one of the following. So, you would have 1 Vanguard, or 1 Battalion.

The reason being, apocalypse uses a split turn structure by detachment rather than "Everybody on one turn goes".

So for the big group game, each player will do all their moves and all their attacks, and their forces will be staying together on the board.

That way we don't have confusion with one player forgetting they have 1 unit of space marines all the way on the other side of the table, that sort of thing.

Inside just one Battalion detachment, you can have 3 HQs, 6 Troops, 6 Elites, 3 Fast Attack and 3 Heavy Support, so it should hopefully not be too hard to fit 100PL. If multiple people are having lots of trouble I'll let people take a second basic detachment if needed.

I hope my teammates bring some infantry because I'm bringing 100PL of pure tanks!

This sounds like a blast! I can bring about 70-80PL of Death Guard under the Apoc points system. I assume only one of us would be able to bring a character like Mortarion?

Doesn't matter! If people happen to bring the same character there's no problem.

It looks like I can make it this week. I'll be there with a sisters of battle detachment. However if we need more chaos I don't mind bringing in Fallen Angels.
